Our Vision
At the beginning of Advent 2010, the Parochial Church Council took time out at St Andrew’s Church, Churchdown, to consider our vision of our Parish Church for the coming years. The process of seeking and then appointing our Parish Priest, Fr Richard, had given the PCC an opportunity to begin this task last year.
In drafting the Parish Profile for prospective candidates for Parish Priest, wide consultation took place with members of the Church, the Diocese of Gloucester and the local community.
It was interesting that there was an overwhelming consensus that we should work to fulfil the traditional role of a Parish Church to serve and to be available to everyone in the Parish.
Our Vision Statement has now been agreed by the Parochial Church Council. Work has begun in working out the priorities identified below in order that a clearer picture can be presented to the Annual Meeting in April.
OUR CORE VALUES
The gospel values of God’s Kingdom, revealed through Jesus Christ and his church
are central to our life as a parish church. These spiritual core values (which underpin
all that we say and do) are:
CARE – The spirit of love and compassion
WELCOME – The spirit of hospitality and generosity
RESPECT – The spirit of openness and acceptance
SERVICE – The spirit of reaching out and support in humility
Through, with and in Jesus, we as an Anglican Community endeavour to live these
values, supporting each other as we share our faith and serve the community in
which we are placed, as well as our Bishop, our Diocese and the wider community.
OUR VISION
We are called through the Holy Spirit to make known the love of God, as revealed through Jesus Christ, to all in our Parish.
OUR MISSION
As a community of faith our Mission is:
prayer and worship
love and service
to nurture and grow
to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
OUR PRIORITIES 2011-2015
To bring the mission into reality our priorities will be:
Develop the range of worship
See through the completion of the Church building development
Continue and develop our Pastoral Care
Provide a wide range of opportunities for learning and spiritual growth
Create and sustain a positive relationship with the local community
Develop better forms of communication
Encourage stewardship
