We will be holding House Groups during Lent based on the diocesan course entitled ‘Let the Scriptures Speak’. This marks the 400^th Anniversary of the King James Bible. More details can be obtained from the parish office and on the Church notice board.

In conjunction with these groups we will be making available our Lent Booklets called ‘Growing in Grace’. This provides the reader with a journey of prayer and scripture readings including a prayerful meditation and a chance to put ones thoughts and prayers into action. Cost £1 each and if you cannot collect your copy please contact us and we will post one to you.

On each Friday, starting on 11^th March, we will be arranging Stations of the Cross. We start at 7pm and it will take approximately 45mins. We hope to use a variety of readings and mediations to enhance our devotion. Earlier in the day at 1pm we will hold our austerity Lenten Lunch of bread and soup all the proceeds to go to the Bishop’s Challenge Fund.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting

This will be held on Wednesday 6^th April at approximately 7.45pm after the Midweek Eucharist. In addition to the normal items on the agenda such as the election of PCC and Deanery members; receiving the Annual Report and Financial Statement for 2010, we will be concentrating on the Action Plan prepared by the PCC and looking forward to the future direction of the church as was requested at last years APCM.

Vestry Meeting

The annual vestry meeting will be held on Sunday 13^th March 2011 at approximately 11.15am immediately after our main act of worship, in the church. The sole item on the agenda will be to elect the Churchwardens for the coming year.

Vision Day

At the special ‘Away Day’ organized by the PCC we agreed our Vision and Mission Statement which can be seen both on our ‘home page’ as well as the ‘about us’ page. In working these statements out it was felt that we needed a pre-amble to explain that which underpins all we attempt to do. Our Core Values expressed under the following four headings is an attempt to do that.

CARE –The spirit of love and compassion.
WELCOME – The spirit of hospitality and generosity.
RESPECT – The spirit of openness and acceptance.
SERVICE – The spirit of reaching out and support in humility.

Through, with and in Jesus, we will endeavour to live these values, supporting each other as we share our faith and serve the local community.

Advent Quiet Day

The PCC will be holding a Quiet Day on the 4^th December from around 9am to 3pm. We hope to spend some time considering the Vision of our Parish for the coming years and the underlying values that will underpin such a vision.

Christmas Child – Shoe Box Project

For several years we have coordinated this project on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse. Last year 1.2 million shoeboxes filled with gifts and goodies were packed by children and adults in the UK and sent to children who need them most in some of the toughest parts of the world. What you have to do is

1. Find an old shoebox.

2. Decide if your gift is f0or a boy or girl and what age.

3. Fill your box full with gifts (there is a leaflet on what/what not to give)

4. Make a small donation to cover admin costs.

We will receive all the boxes in Church in early November.

All Souls’ Day

Our traditional Sung Mass will take place on Tuesday 2^nd November at 7pm. Prayers for the Faithful Departed will be included. If you would like your departed family or friends to be remembered and prayed for on that day please let us know or pop in and complete the appropriate prayer request form which can be found at the entrance of the church. These forms along with the Book of Remembrance will be placed on the altar during the service at the time of our intercessions.

All Saints’ Day

We shall be celebrating All Saints Day this year on Sunday the 31^st October with a Family Mass designed for all the family at 10am. Both young and old contribute to this service in a variety of ways and a warm welcome awaits you.

New Priest

It’s been a hectic year or so with our Vacancy. However, everyone has pulled together, not least all the visiting clergy including the Bishop of Gloucester, to whom we are very grateful. Fr Richard Dunstan-Meadows will be licensed as our new Parish Priest on Wednesday, 16th June 2010.
